As this years festival work draws to a close, we wanted to say one final thank you to everyone who supported us. The theme for the 2017 festival was ‘IN THIS TOGETHER’, and we were truly blown away by how everyone involved embodied this theme throughout the 3 day festivities. The vibe the entire weekend was higher and purer than we could have ever thought possible, so thank you for making the event what it was… we can’t wait to see you all next year!

From listening to activists and surf legends speak at the Patagonia Yurt, situated in the Surf Art Markets, that were presented by SurfStitch, to watching films from local brewers Stone & Wood and the Goodwin family under the stars at the Sunset Cinema, we were so pleased to see smiling faces enjoying what we had worked so hard on

Thank you to all the brands who donated prizes or supported us with the running of the festival behind the scenes, this does not go unnoticed and we are extremely grateful for your generosity. Events like this do not happen without dedication and hard work, and your help allowed us to create something truly magic for our community.
To Patagonia, Stone & Wood, SurfStitch, The Beach Hotel, Clif Bar, Combi, Barefoot Wines, Sol Juice, Hurley, Marvell Street, TNR Accounting, The Echo, Joyce Magazine and the Byron Bazaar… you guys truly rock and we could not have done it without you.

Another huge thank you to our amazing guests that joined us over the weekend to share their skills, divulge precious knowledge and shared the stoke with Byron Bay.
To Jack McCoy, Tom Wegener, The Goodwin Family, G. Love, Lauren Hill, Bob McTavish, Ozzie Wright, Paula Fuga, Bobby Alu, Paul McNeil, Robin Kegel, Belinda Baggs, Joel Fitzgerald, Kimi Werner, Dave Rastovich, Josie Prendergast, Otis Carey, Chrystal Thornburg-Homcy, SA Rips, Matt Yeates, Kei Otsuka, Thomas Bexon, Mahala Magins, Tom Carroll, Rusty Miller and so many more, your presence made the festival all the better.
Check out what some of these guys had to say about the BBSF:
“When you’re surfing you see beautiful things and it makes you want to paint a picture. For me surf culture is way more important than who wins surf contests. Byron Bay Surf Festival should be proud of itself and the culture it has developed.” – Ozzie Wright
“The Byron Bay Surf Festival is reinventing the surf industry. Every single year I walk through here and see the innovation, it changes the way we look at the ocean.” – Tom Wegener
“The Byron Bay Surf Festival is the best surfing event I’ve been to for women in the world.” – Lauren Hill
“I was stoked to be able to bring our small business here. It’s a good thing for the town because it’s more than just surfing – it’s being coastal people and it’s a great festival to celebrate that.” – Andy Ceglinski, Wooden Anchor

And finally, thank you to the community of wonderful people that came out to all the events, your support made all the creative and hard work of a small but dedicated team really worth it. To see the the BBSF welcomed back with open arms after a year off was heartwarming and affirming, and has really inspired us to make this celebration better than ever in the coming years. No matter if you came to the Surf Culture Now Art-Show, the Sunset Cinema, Surf Art Markets, the Community Centre Events, Saturday Slide or the Freestyle & Stoke surf sesions, your enthusiasm and love created an energy that did not go unnoticed… so cheers!
