22-25 FEBRUARY 2018 …The countdown begins…only 23 days to go!!
 

Less than four-weeks out and the anticipation has got us frothing, ready to dish out some more tasty details of this years epic festival lineup. The decisions have been made – deals done, hands shook and diaries officially locked in…
The 2018 BBSF Programme is Here! And it really is better than ever!

Thursday, Feb 22
We’ve added an additional day and 3 new events to the fest lineup this year – Yeeww! Thanks to our legend host, Surfing World Magazine’s Vaughan Blakey, we’ll be firing the party off on Thursday night… that’s right, THURSDAY (Feb. 22), with the new Surf Legends Lounge presented by Electric, at the Byron Bay Community Centre. Come out and meet our very special guest surf legends including surfers, shapers and filmmakers, as we dig deep in to all things surf. Doors open at 6:30 pm, with the music, short films, special guests and discussions starting 7pm sharp.

Be sure to swing by the Community Centre website and grab your tickets early to avoid missing out!

Friday, February 23rd
Our second brand new event the Free Radicals alternative shred sessions are presented by RVCA & Electric, and set to roll out first thing Friday morning 7:00 am. Set your alarms, as current leaders in high performance surfing set to blow minds!

Later that arvo, load up the fam and head over to the highly anticipated BBSF 2018 Art Show at Lone Goat Gallery for an incredible showing of art from this years 3 three featured artists, Tim Kerr (USA), Otis Carey and, of course, now local Byron identity and world famous surfer and artist bohemian Ozzie Wrightor Wrong. Get there between 5:30-7:00 pm to cool down with a couple frosty Stone & Wood brews and load up on some tasty nibbles from Shelter. Trust us, this is one event you do not want to miss!

** (Oh yah, and just a heads up – a little birdie told us that Tim Kerr will be painting a mural on the walls of the Bay Leaf Cafe on Tues the 20th & Wed the 21st! You’re welcome)
 

Following the art show, park your lawn chairs and picnic blankets beachside at Denning Park from 6:00-9:00 pm for this years Sunset Cinema presented by 2018 Festival major partners MINI and Stone & Wood. See a traditional indigenous Welcome to Country by the local Arakwal Bumberlin people which will lead us right in to an acoustic music set a special short film from USA by Jack Coleman and this years outdoor screening of our surprise feature film!

Saturday, February 24th
The Surf Art Markets are set to kick off at 9:00am (8am for yoga), Saturday morning, featuring a wide range of the best surfboard craftsmen, artists, fashion designers, environmental groups, activism workshops, live music, yummy food and bevs, and so much more!

Saturday night, make your way over to the Byron Community Centre for a cosmic experience featuring Kassia Meador‘s Sonic Immersion 5:30-7pm followed by a feature surf film documentary 7:30-9pm.

Sunday, February 25th
…it all leads up to this…Sunday Funday!!! Pack your picnic, swimmies, buddies, guitars, load up the boards and iron your best party shirt because this is the day that tops it all off!

The Freestyle & Stoke surf sessions at our favourite tropo-dreamy location, Wategos beach. This non-competitive surf day, is open to all guys and gals, both young and old, and features both our regular log, mermaids and finless sessions, and as usual, some new surprise categories (will tell ya later!), including one of last year’s favourites the McTavish Trim and don’t forget, the final days’ event the Byron Bay Surf Festival Parteeee Wave!! Come grab some waves, vibe high with friends, get involved or just sit back and watch it all unfold!

The McTavish Trim features some of surfings best on boards 10ft plus and vying for the longest wave up the beach as judged by Bob McTavish himself..!

BBSF 2018 Official wrap Party It wouldn’t be a festival without an after party right!..? Be sure to get along to The Beachy each and every night (Fri, Sat, Sun – tix at door) for live music from some of your favourite Aussie bands!! …along with a few coldies from your our favey local brewers – Stone & Wood! And let’s not forget about where you plan to lay your head each night. Here are a couple of rad spots to book up, 28 Degrees & Elements of Byron.
