On Friday 16th August, join us at the McTavish Store for a celebration of surf culture.
The festivities kick off at roughly 4pm with the highly anticipated BBSF Art Show. This year’s exhibition features an impressive roster of artists, including the dynamic Ozzie Wright, renowned for his vibrant and edgy style, and Otis Carey, whose stunning Aboriginal murals have captivated audiences, most famously in Chris Hemsworth’s Byron Bay mansion. Joining them are James McMillan, the visionary founder of BBSF, the eclectic Jaleesa Vincent, the whimsical Paul McNeil, and the ever-talented Andrew Buckley. Each artist brings a unique perspective and style, promising an unforgettable visual experience. The art show runs until 6pm, offering plenty of time to immerse yourself in the creativity and enjoy refreshments provided by Gage Roads.
At 6pm, the spotlight shifts to the ‘Water People’ podcast, hosted by the insightful Lauren Hill and the legendary Dave Rastovich. Broadcasting live from McTavish, this special episode features an exclusive interview with the iconic Bob McTavish. Known for his pioneering contributions to surfboard design and his profound impact on surf culture, Bob’s stories and insights are not to be missed and with a live audience, it should be a unique experience not be missed!
The evening culminates at 7pm with the McTavish Trim award ceremony. This year, 18 elite surfers have been invited to compete in the prestigious 2024 McTavish Trim. In a ceremonious gathering, these talented individuals will be awarded their competitor jerseys, marking the beginning of their journey in this celebrated event.
